The Longer We Will Rock You Bohemian Rhapsody Clip Is Here, And It's Awesome
Every Queen fan has their favorite song from the band. Some like singing along to "Bohemian Rhapsody," others like feeling inspired by "We are the Champions," the list goes on. But in terms of audience participation, no song of theirs ranks higher than "We Will Rock You," and a new clip from the soon-to-be-released Bohemian Rhapsody depicts the origin of the popular song.
Although Freddie Mercury, played by Rami Malek, is Bohemian Rhapsody's main character, a band is obviously a team effort, and in the above video, we see Gwilym Lee's Brian May, Queen's lead guitarist, shooting his idea for "We Will Rock You" by the other members and the ladies in the room. At first, he just has the beat: two foot stomps, one hand clap, repeat. Freddie Mercury is intrigued by the idea, but then rightfully asks, "What's the lyric?" Cut to Queen on stage and rocking their hearts out with a completed "We Will Rock You," and the audience loves it.
This Bohemian Rhapsody clip also hints at some tension within Queen, as Freddie Mercury questions what's going on when he enters the room, prompting Joseph Mazello's John Deacon to note that Freddie would know if he was on time for the meeting. The scene then abruptly cuts to Brian running his "We Will Rock You" idea by Freddie, so I wonder if the clip cut out some material of Freddie getting into a small disagreement with one or more of the band members.
"We Will Rock You" was released in 1977, and I'd argue that following "Bohemian Rhapsody," it's the second most famous song, so naturally the Bohemian Rhapsody movie would cover its origins. To this day, you'd be hard pressed to find a crowded room or venue where at least some, if not all, people listening start stomping their feet and clapping their hands to the song, so it's good to see it's getting proper attention in this movie.
Originally directed by Bryan Singer and finished by Dexter Fletcher, Bohemian Rhapsody will cover Queen's rise to stardom and Freddie Mercury's personal life, all leading up to the band's legendary Live Aid performance in 1985. Along with the previously mentioned actors, Bohemian Rhapsody also stars Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Lucy Boynton as Mary Austin, Aidan Gillen as John Reid, Tom Hollander as Jim Beach, Allen Leech as Paul printer and Mike Myers as Ray Foster.
Bohemian Rhapsody opens in theaters on November 2, so keep checking back with CinemaBlend for more coverage and our review for the movie. And don't forget to also look through our 2018 release schedule to learn what this year's remaining movies are.
