E.L. James Actually Started Writing The Mister Before Fifty Shades Of Grey

Apparently, E.L. James had been working on romance projects for a long time before she published her Fifty Shades books. The prominent author and movie producer recently revealed that her new book The Mister could have been her first book if things had panned out differently. She revealed how long shed been writing The Mister, noting,

This story has been with me for a very long time. I wrote a very rough draft of it in 2009, so its actually been with me before Fifty. And Ive been trying to silence these characters in my head for a long time. Eventually I managed to get them onto the page.

Anyone familiar with Fifty Shades of Grey should already know E.L. James first novel started out as Twilight fan fiction and then branched out to become the tale of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey fans worldwide know and love today. The first Fifty Shades book was first published back in 2011 and James has previously mentioned it took her 18 months to write the trilogy.

Before E.L. James decided she needed a more erotic version of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen in her life, she had started treatment on The Mister. This makes sense, given in real life E.L. James is British and a European tale about an Earl falling in love with his housekeeper is more on brand than a story set in the Northwestern part of the United States.

Per what E.L. James told AZ Central, the idea came about when she was thinking about what would happen if a man were to fall in love with his cleaner. However, there were a lot of stops and starts until that germ of an idea could become even a rough draft for a book. Then, of course, there was the distraction of writing and working on the movies for her Fifty Shades series.

Finally, last March, The Mister started falling into place. Per the author:

I had the rough draft Id written, but I didnt really understand the characters at all. And then over the years theyve slowly crystallized. But with Alessia, I had to go to Albania to get a better idea of what she is like and where shes from and all of that, because its actually very difficult to find information about Albania. So, I went last March and everything sort of fell into place, and I was able to finish the book.

Ultimately, The Mister seems to be selling well so far. It sold more than 50,000 copies in its first week on shelves, and allegedly there are some interested parties sniffing around a movie deal.

However, had The Mister come out before Fifty Shades of Grey, its hard telling whether or not it would have attracted such a large following of loyal readers.

So, if you are someone who subscribes to the idea that everything happens for a reason, perhaps it was extremely fortuitous that E.L. James got stuck on an early draft of The Mister and was able to return to the idea later.

You can order your own copy of The Mister, which does have a Fifty Shades Easter egg, right now.

Chris Hemsworth Had To Remember He Wasnt Thor Filming Men In Black: Internationals Stunts

Chris Hemsworth Had To Remember He Wasnt Thor Filming Men In Black: Internationals Stunts

Chris Hemsworth has a lot of experience with stunts, having played Thor in the MCU since filming commenced on 2011's Thor. The actor is next set to do some stunts for another major franchise in Men In Black: International, but according to the Hemsworth, it was a real challenge to remember he was playing a less god-like character on the big screen this time around. Per the actor:

Thor's stunts are wildly complicated, but it feels like an atomic bomb goes off with each of those [hammer] hits. Everything is sort of magnified to a level that is so nonhuman. Whereas this, we have to keep grounding it. There's always a part of it where I'm like, 'Can I do a flip or just sort of leap from this building to that one?' and they're like, 'Nah, humans don't do that sort of thing,' So they have to rein me in occasionally.

Since Men in Black and its sequels and now spinoff have always dealt with fictional weapons and a slew of aliens, it's easy to see why real humans may not have been the first thing Chris Hemsworth had on his mind when he started filming Men In Black: International.

Chris Hemsworth clearly wanted to give input into what his Men In Black: International character, Agent H, could do, at least per his comments to EW. However, sometimes his experience with what Thor could do in the MCU sort of got in the way with the more human tendencies and limitations of H.

Still, it clearly should be nice for Chris Hemsworth to take a break from large weapons and infinity guantlets for a while and suit up in a different kind of suit. In general, one would think that it would be pretty fun to play a superhero, although Chris Hemsworth has talked previously about how he had Thor fatigue before filming Thor: Ragnarok.

At one point, Chris Hemsworth was hopping from project to project so frequently that he announced he was taking at least a six month break from acting, although I have no idea if he capably got to it in 2018, as Bad Times at the El Royale was released a few months after 12 Strong and Avengers: Infinity War and Men in Black: International started filming back in October of 2018. Perhaps there was a gap between Infinity War and Bad Times? I certainly hope he had the chance to de-stress.

Regardless, clearly Chris Hemsworth was not going to say know to the chance at joining another big franchise, and joining that franchise with his peer Tessa Thompson, who also starred in Thor: Ragnarok.

We'll see if the dynamic duo can strike gold twice when Men In Black: International hits the schedule on June 14, 2019. Be sure to take a look at this year's other big releases with our full movie schedule.

Chris Hemsworth was struggling financially before landing the most lucrative role of his career. "A big reason I started acting was because I loved film and TV, but it was like we had no money

The Aquaman Movie Has Atlanteans Vomiting When Out Of The Water

The Aquaman Movie Has Atlanteans Vomiting When Out Of The Water

Most Atlanteans in the DC Comics universe may look just like humans, but their anatomy is obviously quite different, as evidenced by their ability to breathe underwater. Atlanteans are also capable of breathing air, and in the comics, the transition from underwater to surface isn't anything major for them. However, the Aquaman movie decided to take a different approach with this by having the Atlanteans needing to vomit whenever they start breathing air. As director James Wan explained, this is meant to get the leftover water out of their lungs so they can take in air without any issues, stating:

Just from a practical standpoint, people ask me, when they talk, 'Is it bubbles that come out of their mouth?' No, 'cause there's no air in your lungs, so there wouldn't be any bubbles, right? Because you don't do that, right? And, so, then, in that sequence, where you saw Mera open up this air pocket to suck Orm away from Arthur, help him out, now, when he's breathing, the first thing he does is he using the air pockets, where he could get out all of the water that's in his lungs.

To provide some context, James Wan gave this explanation to Comicbook.com and other outlets during their visit to the Aquaman editing bay after showing a sequence where Amber Heard's Mera rescues Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry from his battle with Patrick Wilson's Orm, a.k.a. Ocean Master. She does so by opening up a patch of air underwater, and when Orm lands inside of it, he's briefly incapacitated and starts throwing up water. So rather than Orm and his fellow pure Atlanteans still going about their business instantly upon exposure to air, they need to get that water out of their system before doing anything else. This doesn't sound anywhere near as disgusting as the vomiting sequence from Blockers earlier this year, but it's nonetheless unsettling, not to mention scientifically sketchy. Oh well, the effort is appreciated.

For Arthur Curry, whose is half-Atlantean, half human, one would imagine that he doesn't have to put up with this messy biological trait. It also probably helps that he grew up on the surface, though as we saw in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, he can certainly handle himself in the water. This advantage will come in handy during the Aquaman movie, because although they're related by blood, Arthur and Orm will find themselves on opposite sides when the latter works to unite the seven underwater kingdoms to declare war on the surface. We knew that blood would be shed during the conflict, but now we can also brace for vomiting.

Aquaman dives into theaters on December 21, and as for what else the DCEU has in development, you can find that information in our DC movies guide.

Living underwater means lungs are filled with fluids, which is why Atlanteans will spew it out like vomit when they are suddenly out of water in Aquaman. While visiting the edit bay of Aquaman with director James Wan, ComicBook.com saw a trio of scenes from the upcoming DC Comics film.

Everything that Wan has introduced in this film is very closely inspired from the comics! In fact, the only person that seems to be a little different from the traditional comic book look is none other than Aquaman himself!

Aquaman: Here's Why The Atlanteans End up Vomiting When Out

The explanation is a simple one but more disgusting than Aquaman fans expected. Screen Rant got to join director James Wan in the Aquaman editing bay, and see firsthand how the biology of a water-breather would be solved. The first hurdle is easy enough to explain: Yes, Atlanteans like Aquaman are equipped to breathe water just as easily as air.
