Watch Taron Egerton Belt Out Elton John In New Rocketman Video

He may not have gotten the part of Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but Taron Egerton will be playing a different icon, one of the music world, in the upcoming Rocketman. The actor stars as singer Elton John in the new biopic from Dexter Fletcher. And in addition to the already herculean task of playing a living famous person, Taron Egerton also has to sing. Check him belting it out in the video below:

Who knew Eggsy had pipes like that? Taron Egertons rendition of Tiny Dancer is incredible, and shows that he is up for the challenge of playing Elton John-- not just from an acting perspective but from a musical one as well. As director Dexter Fletcher says, Taron Egerton will actually be singing in the film so when you hear Elton Johns classic hits, it will be Taron Egertons voice you hear.

According to the films music producer Giles Martin, Elton John said that he hadnt heard anyone else sing his songs as well as actor Taron Egerton. That is extremely high praise, considering how many times Elton Johns songs have been covered. Plus Taron Egerton is primarily an actor, so that's saying something. Elton John being happy with Taron Egertons performance is the ultimate endorsement. It also sounds like he wants Taron Egerton to put his own spin on the songs.

I especially like that in the video we see part of a scene from the film where Elton John meets Bernie Taupin, the man who wrote most of his songs including Tiny Dancer. Its cool to have that lead into Taron Egertons rendition of one of Elton Johns classic songs.

This film is really shaping up to be something special, and it definitely feels like it is arriving at the perfect time. A Star is Born was a financial hit and is up for 8 Academy Awards. That film featured Lady Gaga and actor Bradley Cooper singing their own songs to marvelous effect.

Of course, you cant talk about music biopics these days without mentioning Bohemian Rhapsody, which has been a phenomenon and has been nominated for 5 Academy Awards. To achieve Freddie Mercurys legendary vocals in that film they used an amalgamation of Rami Maleks voice, Freddie Mercurys and Marc Martels. Bohemian Rhapsody is especially relevant because Dexter Fletcher also directed part of that film after Bryan Singer was fired.

Rocketman will be Dexter Fletchers film from start to finish and he has a star in Taron Egerton that looks as though he will give a convincing performance, both in front of the camera and behind the microphone.

Why Some Of The Avengers Made Mistakes During Infinity War

Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War are ahead!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's heroes have faced difficult challenges before, but none measured up to Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Despite the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and other select protagonists joining forces to battle the Mad Titan and his forces on several fronts, he succeeded in obtaining the six Infinity Stones and wiping out half of life in the universe. Part of this was due to Thanos just being several steps ahead in the "game" and being a powerhouse even without the Infinity Stones, but in other instances, it was due to the heroes making mistakes, which co-director Joe Russo attributes to the intense emotional pain they went through. Looking back at why Thor stuck Thanos in the chest with Stormbreaker rather than behead him, Russo attributed that to the God of Thunder wanting the Mad Titan to know that he'd gotten his revenge. Russo continued:

Had he gone for a kill shot, that snap would not have happened. These are choices that characters who are feeling immense pain make and hopefully, the audience can learn to empathize with those characters because they can grow through stories. Stories can teach us things and that we should try to see every choice from the perspective of the character that made the choice.

While Joe Russo was speaking specifically about Thor during this portion of his Avengers: Infinity War conversation with Comicbook.com, this rationale also applies to Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord. When he, Drax, Mantis, Nebula, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Doctor Strange got the drop on Thanos on Titan and nearly succeeded in pulling the Infinity Gauntlet off the villain's hand, when Peter learned from Nebula that Thanos had killed Gamora so he could get the Soul Stone, he became enraged. The whole plan went to hell when Peter retaliated against Thanos, which broke Mantis' hold over the Mad Titan and allowed him to return to full power. And going back to Thor, having watched Thanos kill Loki, Heimdall and half of the Asgardian population at the start of the story, it makes sense to a degree that he'd want Thanos to know it was he who killed him. Unfortunately, that decision led to trillions of lives being lost.

It's easy enough to say that we would have made the "right" decision had we been in either Thor or Star-Lord's shoes, but the fact is that in situations where that much emotional suffering is happening, logic and reason tends to go right out the window. Plus, while we may not always agree with the decisions characters make in stories, their flaws and issues make them more compelling than if they were perfect and always right. Of course, one could argue that there were factors that led to Thanos' victory in Avengers: Infinity War, such as Steve Rogers not deciding that the Mind Stone needed to be destroyed sooner. Regardless, Thanos won, and Avengers 4 will see the surviving heroes, including Thor, living in the aftermath.

Chris Pratt Surprised A Group Of Fans At A Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Screening

One of the summer's biggest blockbusters, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, has already released internationally-- and it is off to a strong start at the box office. Stateside, most of us will have to wait a bit longer to see the Dino adventure, as Fallen Kingdom doesn't open domestically until next weekend. However, some lucky fans have gotten to see the film early, and one group in particular got a special surprise when they were visited by the man who plays dinosaur researcher and raptor trainer Owen Grady, actor Chris Pratt.

During a sneak preview screening of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom put on by The Today Show and Universal Pictures, Chris Pratt came in to surprise the young audience members, who were a part of The Boys and Girls Club. Before the screening there was a contest where kids could act out how they would look if scared by a dinosaur, but no one could have predicated that a Jurassic World expert would be popping up. The 245 kids and chaperones were ecstatic to see Chris Pratt, who took time to speak to the kids and offer some advice about believing in yourself and staying true to who you are even when others criticize you.

Speaking to TODAY, Chris Pratt mentioned how he feels very fortunate in his life, and that's why it is important to him to give back by using his platform to spend time with kids and mentor them. Chris Pratt spent time at a Boys and Girls Club as a kid, and he actually helped raise money for a new rec center for the local club in his hometown. It goes without saying that this is a very cool and sweet gesture from Chris Pratt. Universal and TODAY putting on this special screening for the kids is awesome, but it is made extra special by Chris Pratt showing up and actually talking to the young fans.

Jurassic World may be the definitive Jurassic and dinosaur film for a whole generation of audiences, so this is a big movie moment for them. Also, Chris Pratt is one of the most popular actors working today given his role in the Jurassic series and his fan favorite role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so for him to show up and talk to you is probably akin to Harrison Ford or Robin Williams or Will Smith surprising you at a movie theater full of hardcore movie fans.
